"The fact Newcastle won was neither here nor there"?
Really? I thought the point was winning, not playing out of form players who've mostly... lost, simply because their price tag suggests better.
We can say what we like about the transfer debacles last summer, and EHs part in that, but criticising a team selection who played with more heart than I've seen in months *and won* against the Prem's in-form side, is completely lost on me.
There is method in it. The team he put out all play for the badge. Flawed, ageing, low on confidence, but fully committed.
Gordon is out the door, as is Wissa who clearly couldn't recognise a barn door let alone hit one. Woltemade is not a PL striker, he's incredibly skillful, I love him, but he runs like the BFG. Barnes came on with fresh legs and scored, but he's been very poor lately. Elanga has shown he's an athlete not a footballer. Longstaff would get a game ahead of Ramsey. And Ramsdale? Pope will have me on beta blockers if he's still first choice next season, but he pulled off world class saves that would've been beyond Ramsdale.
Many of these are recruitment catastophes. The team selection was not a catastrophe.
CB - agree. Spot on: "Really? I thought the point was winning, not playing out of form players who've mostly... lost, simply because their price tag suggests better."
After reading that i reckon you should apply for a job with one the national press.
'What shall I write about today. Oh I know I'll say Howe has lost the dressing room"
No evidence except a couple of glum faces on the bench. Howe spends all week with these pampered millionaires and if they aren't prepared to work through training then they don't deserve to play.
I've got no proof of that but its more likely than some of the points you made in your whinge.
There are loads of points (opinions) that i could argue with you but I haven't got the time or inclination with my typing skills being what they are.
One other thing though and this is fact. The Animals never said 'get me outta here'
The song was 'we gotta get out of this place' and was about working people trying to improve their life not millionaires trying to get richer.
Just the sort of article full of the speculation based on on no evidence at all that the southern gutter press and Faceache ,twatter and all the other social media sites are full off. 3 points and a half decent (very decent in parts) performance against a very good side.
Trust His Eddiness. As for "Heaven forbid that Elanga comes on, does something and someone takes a punt." Unlikely - and a huge risk, as Maggie Simpson is a better dribbler and would likely give the ball away less. NUFC needed a win, and got one. It could have been any score all the way up to 5-5, but it was a win, the first half was encouraging and if EH is picking players on merit and not transfer fee, then so be it. As for AG10 - good bye and good riddance. If we take a loss on BFG, MissaWissa and e-Langa then do/so be it, not everyone is a Tripps or Bruno.
A lot to unpack there Scott. Just when I'd resigned myself to getting behind Eddie again I'm really wound up about the list of catastrophes that just goes on and on.
Then of course we're off to Forest on Sunday and we know who'll have a massive game against us don't we?
I live in hope he'll turn it round but I'm not that confident tbh.
The whole article is out of touch with the reality of the situation. I’d be devastated if any of our players were happy about not starting or getting minutes via the bench.
At the final whistle in the ground I thought we were lucky to nick all three points but having watched the match again on TV it was more even than I first thought and for once we had some luck.
As for last summers signings I doubt that any of them were Howes first choices (or even fourth choices).
Antnee, especially if he goes abroad, would go with my good wishes. (I think he’s just past his prime two years ago anyway, but nobody tell Uli:) Howay it’s a short career, and once you get to a certain level, no longer motivated by money. I wouldn’t blame him for having his head turned by a Bayern Munich or a Barcelona. Or indeed a Liverpool. Us lot are still in the same (quite high) second tier we’ve always been! How to break into the first tier whilst being stimied by every new rule in the book ,anyone’s guess is as good as mine!
Howe's post match comment about picking people he can trust was a real eye opener for me. Fuck knows what those on the bench thought of it. Your right though, Howe chose to buy Elanga, Ramsey, Wissa & Woltemade..we know this as know body else was around to choose them .
You can make some sort of case for almost all of those listed not starting the game - but Hall is the real head scratcher. To my mind he was our best player for a big part of the season. He has always looked to be giving 100% and has never given the impression he would fail the dickhead test.
What a very strange article! You'd rather we lost than chose the team which actually won? BFG was not the player for that game (or any game really). He's weak and slow. Can't break into box and lose his man. Great with the ball at his feet when standing still but not much else. Elanga is poor and can you even contemplate him doing what Murphy did for the first goal? Howe did the right thing, picked the team to win and win they did.

Agreed and those out there made a mockery of this constant ludicrous line "he's lost the dressing room"
After reading that i reckon you should apply for a job with one the national press.

That's my whinge over.

Yep. They're a different team with him back.
Mental isn’t it.
You know my thoughts.
Absolutely got away with one last week - if we’d lost it fuck only knows.
We won and we’re safe and the fact we are ecstatic about that says everything about the season and its management.
*side note: definitely something wrong with Hall’s temperament.

Couldn’t agree more with CB. We’ve been playing some of these and just haven’t performed or won enough games with them
You got me there Scott - especially since I had no idea Gordon was on the bench.
I just don't know what to make of it all, and I can't wait for this absolute bastard of a season to be over.
Having said that, we flying back tomorrow and I just can't wait for my next fix, watching United from the comfort of my own home.
You know what, no one was complaining about a 'Bastard of a season' when little more than 2 months ago we were beating Qarabag 6-1.
Maybe not

Yeah and so far they haven't worked in the main, like when he bought Trippier, Burn, Bruno, Tino,Isak,Botman .......................................
Can't win them all, got more right in over 4 years than wrong.
Some of them will still be here next season, lets see if the tune changes.

"...a club who's more of a soap opera than anything the writers of Neighbours could produce" - dead right. And this was the latest episode.
