"a 6, or a CDM as the Fifa generation say"... or a 4, as the Gen Xers among us say... :-)

And if you liked Pro Evolution, try Sensible World of Soccer!

Useful run-down on the player. I had never heard of him until a couple of days ago, but as you all know by now, I am no Ajax fan 🤣

The stated pronunciation is slightly off. Steur is pronounced more like the english 'stir', as in stiring a cup of tea, or 'slur', depending on where you're from. The vowel sound in either case should be slightly elongated.

Noted, Mik. The English mangling foreign language names is one of my bugbears!

That's what my Dutch Ajax fan friend has just told me

Are you opening the door for fish named footballers Ordy?

True Faith's avatar

Ordy is innocent. It was an editorial intervention. And I can't be responsible for what happens in these comments...

I wonder if one of our midfielders is on their way out? As it's clear he's not Tonali's replacement or Bruno's given his age.

Potentially moving Willock on if right bid comes in for him? Like last summer when Sena Longstaff was sold to Leeds?

Good business from the club, done quietly, seems to have a lot of potential and was a reasonable price. Matches criteria fans have been asking for.

Surprised you didn’t check with ex-Toon Eredivisie supremo and Dutch pronunciation expert Shteve McLaren. He confirms it is pronounced ‘Shtir’, as in ‘Shaken, not shtirred’.

My Son went travelling in 2024 and met a Dutch lad. They’ve kept in contact and when we signed Steur, he said that we had acquired a cracking player. On the radar of most young Dutch supporters as a potentially great footballer and he was gutted to see him leave even though he supports Feyenoord.

Fingers crossed.

Cheers Ordy, there's a chance we could have a good team next season, especially if we get Manzambi as well.

I keep wanting to call him Stan rather than Sean for some reason, maybe it’s just easier to get my tongue round.
