Perfect summation of everything Les! I can confirm from walking around that there’s no sounding or grounding work being done whatsoever in Leazes Park, and then we have the extension of the Stack lease which kinda confirms nowt’s happening to the Gallowgate either. A firm “actually, no.” would be nice. I think, probably because of the regulations, we’re low on their list of priorities now.
On the plus side, as you say, we have the best manager and coaching team on earth imo. On transfers we need to strike while the iron’s hot. Obviously I’m biased but even if I was a neutral player I’d be well up for signing for Newcastle. I can’t think of anything better!
I know ,as in normal households, you have to live within your means, but for chairman to say we want to be #1 and a year of knowing where in the squad we are lacking, not to mention the concerns of the manger. We are very slow in taking action on the transfer front.Maybe we will be surprised with late very good signings if Botman,Isak and Tonali are anything to go by. Bring back Amanda
Good point about 'oven ready signings'. Even estabished players will still need to learn the Eddie way, and so should it be. I'd rather younger, not-yet-estabished players who are already able to do the job, but still want to be coached properly to fully achieve their potential.
It's rather early to be panicking. We've just completed a first rate season which included beating Liverpool at Wembley and we're looking forward to Champions League football again. Candidly I don't see Paul Mitchell's departure as a setback, nor do I see Eddie Howe in a state of panic. Mitchell's appointment struck me as one we didn't need but he had a reasonable pedigree and looked as though he could bring something to the club's recruitment of players. In practice, however, it was seen to have been ill-thought-out. Eddie Howe has wrought miracles and shown himself to be an excellent judge of players brining in Trippier, Bruno, Gordon and Isak, to name but four, while revitalizing existing men like Joelinton and Fabien Schar. He was appointed just after the takeover and, through his achievements on the field, has acquired a status that few managers enjoy and justifiably earned an enviable level of autonomy. Mitchell obviously expected to make sweeping changes and this, naturally, caused resentment on Eddie's part. I hope that whoever the new CEO is, that he will consult Eddie before making an appointment. As for recruiting new players, we need cover at CB and RW but there's plenty of time to find the right men and we'll also have Lewis Hall and Joelinton back in contention. We're in better shape than we've been for a long time.
The stadium and training ground are all being worked on in the background. The Falcons deal to stay at Kingston Park has probably complicated/delayed things slightly but there is no doubt the will and drive is there. We’ll just have to wait a little while longer. I think the whole development will be far greater than anyone of us anticipate.
More interesting now will be when we see the Champions’ League draw, and see what bunch of snidey superiors we’ll wallop at SJP! I was there and I know this week wasn’t the first time Mbappe shat himself!
Excellent, Les. Probably what we are all thinking.
I do think we need/will get a couple of ‘oven-baked’ players. I don’t think we are far off from having a reasonable push for the league (or at least I did before Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea’s unfettered spending)!
Poor start for Chelsea or Man Utd and I can see them going for Eddie. He needs backing to the hilt.
This is spot on, Mark. Almost every PL club in the country would love Eddie as their manager. He would take some shifting (thankfully), but nothing is impossible where money and levels of support are concerned.
One of the best goalkeepers in the PL is allowed to sign for Brentford for relatively peanuts apparently without an enquiry from us but we will offer a 38yo a new contract.
Senior staff are leaving with no replacements seemingly lined up.
The "imminent" announcement regarding a new stadium has become a joke.
Mediocre strikers would rather go to MU or TH than NU.
There is only one reason Callum Wilson will get a new contract - Isak is leaving.
But hey, at least we can take the piss out of people dying in helicopters.
Lets not panic man progress is being made, them shipping containers behind the Gallowgate End have got a contract extension until 2031 !!!

It’s frustrating to think it’s 4 years now with little movement off field isn’t it?

Agreed! She doesn’t have to be a stakeholder, can we not just employ her? She was a great figurehead, PR expert, great for the women,
and everybody, players, fans alike, loved her to bits.

That’ll be interesting and exciting to play in the new format. Possibly some big scalps to be had

You might be right, I can see Elanga possibly coming off as we don’t seem to have any challengers so far.
Still think others will be from overseas and not well known

Chaos or cunning plan?
100% chaos.
