Excellent Matthew (BTW Cabaye wasn't a free kick). Have we ever looked at a Man Utd team and thought we wouldn't take any of them, Mainoo at a push as a late sub, but none of them would get in our team. Even our 'weak links' Murphy and Dubravka would get in their team. The first 30 minutes were as good as i can ever remember, BDB looked like Beckenbaur, Isak was Henry at his very best, Hall is like Roberto Carlos, what a game.

Indeed big Dubs did well, we were unlucky when Sandro hit the post, we were lucky that Man U could not find the goal even standing on dubrakas water bottle! Was it me or were the premier league desperate for var di disallow the Isak first goal?

If I'm Howe I'm calling out Sky for raising paper gossip with Isak post game. Looked like a deliberate attempt to unsettle him and stir the pot. The club should complain, it's not normal practice to question a player on gossip.

Happens every time we beat one of the super league 6. It’s not us that beat them, they imploded/unravelled. Tedious and predicable.

It happens every time we play Man U/Arsenal/Liverpool that suddenly our star player is for sale/unsettled/wanted by the opposing team

Interesting a manure fan said to me that according to Roy Keane a club with no achievements for 67 years we are a bunch of demanding and entitled @@&$s. I have pointed out that even with s Billionaire owners, we have a balanced squad, a manager who has built a team with a work ethic.

Great line... "Instead of the contracted 19 minutes of added time" I think everyone was surprised at 3

To be successful, teams must find a way to perform against the cartel teams regardless of their current state of form. It’s great to win there but I hope we can take this further in the league cup. We will need to beat Arsenal, Spurs or Liverpool to win the cup. I’ll be honest, winning at OT does nothing for my personal trauma. Yes, great win but that’s it. 3pts. We need to have big wins like this which really really mean something in terms of silverware. Whilst we are all happy as fuck today, and we should enjoy it, it’s highly likely MUFC will win another trophy before us. That’s the trauma that continues for me.

Totally agree! For all the press glorify our 5-0 win with the Albert chip, it does nothing to erase the trauma of the 1-0 loss 6 months before. Win that & we’d have had one hand on the league title! Horrendous. It also doesn’t help get over the cup finals in 99 & 23. So, as nice as these wins are, I won’t be finally happy until we win a trophy. Preferably within the next 10 years!

Great write-up Matt! Cheered me again. Only thing I’d add is I’d love it (yeh, luvvit!) if we could finally bury any inferiority complex by doing this again, at Wembley one day soon 🙏 …

Very kind, Chris. A pleasure to be there and a pleasure to write. Even if I did have a headache in the morning

I wax impressed by how the full press up to their keeper and how each player interchanged when they were pushing forward.

What a night. First time in decades we’ve gone there and been head and shoulders the better team (second time including last year in the cup). I’m including the Entertainers there as well, certainly at Old Trafford.

I need to mention Burn as well, since back in his position he’s been the model of consistency all season. He’ll never get a look in for England naturally but I’ve noticed anyway Dan! He might have to shuffle to the right on Saturday if Kelly comes in for Schar.

Superb. The best football I've ever seen in B/W stripes.

Incidentally, Isaac's offside goal: surely Schar's shot took a deflection (off Erikson?) to reach Isaac so far to the left of the goal?

True! I guess he's still interfering by any sensible judgement but I confess I've no idea what the actual rule is any more. The finish was bloody brilliant btw
