There's going to be a queue around the block to take Elanga off our hands 😁

Great stuff Scott. For my money Ronaldo is the most unlikeable by far.

Loved the Gerd Muller reference 👌. Them thighs man, lethal.

It seems to me that the tournament will only get going in the round of 32, but the spectre of 47 taking over the final is too much to bear.

Hopefully there’ll be an AI-enhanced broadcast of the trophy ceremony where it airbrushes that megalomaniacal orangutan from the screen.

I like Ronaldo. He’s flash, arrogant and a bit of a twat but he’s 41, scored in 6 world cups, scored as many as out top scorer in this tournament so far, top scorer by miles in the Euros and the all time Champions League Top Scorer.

I’d love England to have a player of his mentality/edge and be able to back it up (I’m looking at you Jude).

He’s been a world class player for maybe 2 decades and still wants to be the best (even though we all know he no longer is).

Because of his achievements, longevity and desire to win, he’s the best footballer who’s ever lived in my opinion.

Anyway, I’m off to check the paperwork on my little ‘office’ above the local vape shop.

Enjoyed it, Scott. Excellent round up.

ML - yep, agree, he might be flash and arrogant, but sometimes that is what drives you to the top.

It is. Don’t get the hate.

If he’d stayed at Sporting and achieved all he has (for club and country), he’d be far more appreciated.

Had the balls to go to the biggest clubs in their respective countries and smashed it with all of them. Rarely injured, inspirational, always wants to play, phenomenal goal scoring records and brave as a lion.

Just seems like jealousy of opposing fans of the clubs he’s played for (maybe)?

Possibly, the Press like to build people up then knock them down, and people have now bought into that as a mindset. Also it seems now everyone is shit/quality or hated/loved, and very few grey areas. Both LM10 and CR7 are fantastic players that we have been blessed with, to light up the beautiful game; let's just enjoy them both - I like a Sunday Roast dinner, but I also like a McDonalds, and can appreciate and enjoy others too. I have been fortunate to see them both play live a few times - magical.

You’re spot on with the love/hate thing, what a world.

Seen Ronaldo in EPL and went to Barcelona a good few years ago and fortunately got a ticket for their home game against Osasuna where Messi broke the record for Barca’s top scorer. Pedri played in the same game and was sensational. Didn’t really happen for him over here but I’ve seen some standout performances over the years and that was one of them (granted the opposition was poor - think it was 8-0).

Yes, too many games, but some fun match-ups and, once the knock-out starts, enjoy it whilst you can. The WC will be a bloody league like the UCL within a couple of cycles, sadly.
