League Cup semi, 2nd leg at home to a North London team? Wallace Wilson opens a regular new column drawing on his 60 years following United with a topical trip back to 1976
Alan Gowling was known as the milkman where I stood in the east stand paddocks, as his running style looked like he had a crate of milk bottles in each hand!
Has anyone any details on the 0-0 against Chester in the 74/75 League Cup match. As a 10-11 year-old it was my first Newcastle match. I travelled up with the match officials, the ref and one of the linesmen were from my home town - Kendal. Only got very sketchy memories of that day but I remember being in the tunnel pre-match and going in officials dressing room.
Wonderful stuff, Wallace. Thanks for writing it - looking forward to future editions!
Great read n stuff in that article I didn’t know but summed up perfectly as was at that game as an 11 y old, one of the greatest atmosphere at SJP imo
What a fantastic recollection. Brought all those vivid memories back for me. Brilliant and many thanks 👍👏
